Developmental Work 2008

Blood
Directed by Phil Thomson

Members of the WA Youth Theatre Co will create a new work to show at Rechabites Hall in Northbridge 18 – 30 August 2008.

The development of original work is fundamental to a thriving theatre culture. The creation of localised, immediate, relevant contemporary work allows young performers to use their own voices and vision. It empowers them to own their art, and offers a variety of work possibilities in later years.

Workshops in 2007 have started to gather material for this play which is part one of a trilogy, Blood, Sweat and Tears.

Further workshops will be held in 2008 to further develop the play with auditions to be held in June 2008 for an ensemble cast of actors to present the work in August.

We will be holding a week of intensive workshops for writers from 21-15 Jan in the large meeting room at the King Street Arts Centre from 10 am each day. No writing experience necessary and you don’t need to attend every day. Just make sure you can come from 10-12.30pm on Monday 21 Jan. Email the WAYTCO office to register your interest and then bring along your ideas!.
